Unplug the TV and converter box and disconnect the coaxial cable from the wall. Turn off and stay away from all appliances. Do not talk on the phone or use radio or stereo headphones. Avoid water. No baths, showers, laundry or dishwashing.

Befor You Dig

Call us before doing any digging that might affect cable wiring. Whenever you or someone you hire will be digging outside, make sure you know where your cable wires are before you lift a shovel. It is important to contact us, so that you're not taking out your neighbor's cable with the dirt!

Sun Outages
If your cable TV picture works fine except turns snowy or blurry for a few minutes a day during the Spring and Fall equinox, it’s most likely due to a sun outage. Sun outages occur when the sun lines up directly behind the cable satellite and interferes with the signal for your cable service. Sun outages are inconvenient, but the good news is they end when the equinox is over.
Troubleshooting
Before you schedule an appointment for a cable reception problem, please check:
The TV set is "on" and most likely set to Channel 3 or in some areas to channel 2 or 4.
The remote control batteries are good.
The power switch controlling electricity to the TV is "on." (If not, wait 20 minutes for the converter to reprogram once you turn the power back on.)
The switch on the television remote control or A/B switch device is in the "Cable" or "CATV" position and the switch on your VCR is in the "TV" position.
The power cords are connected and in good condition. Power is still on in other electrical devices. If not, there may be a temporary power interruption in your home.
The cable connectors in the back of the TV are securely tightened.
The reception problem occurs on all channels. If it is on only one channel, it is likely a temporary station problem.
If there is more than one cable outlet in the home, determine if the problem is on all TV
sets. If not, the problem may be with the television and not the cable signal. No picture and no sound, check the power connections. If still no picture, it is most likely a TV set problem.
Is It A Problem With The TV Set?

If there is more than one cable outlet in the home, determine if the problem is on all TV sets. If not, the problem may be with the television and not the cable signal. If there is no picture and no sound, check the power connections. If still no picture appears, it is most likely a TV set problem.

If sound doesn't match picture, or you have no color or loss of sound, reset the TV to Channel 3 and fine-tune the TV set as follows:

For color problems, adjust the hue, tint or fine-tuning features on the TV. Make sure color controls are not on. If picture is too dark on all channels, slowly adjust brightness or contrast control. If the picture is rolling on all channels, adjust the vertical hold on TV set.
